Bookbags for the New School Year!

by Sajanee D. Peck on 08/26/10

Be Careful of your Bookbag Weight!

Sources say that students who are enrolled in school are carrying too much in their bookbags. This causes bad posture and spine realignments.

Make sure you are carrying no more than 10% of your body weight. Have your parents/guardians talk to your teachers so you have a locker that is convient for you throughout the day. Believe me, they will do it if your parents say something!

Last but not least... make sure you are getting enough rest at night. That will help your body to regroup for the next day. Don't sleep in on weekends. Take periodic naps during the day instead. This will keep your body on a steedy pattern instead of a rollercoaster.

Let's Talk about the Summer!

It is HOTT out here!

Number One rule when you're dealing with heat, is stay hydrated! Drink water and sports drinks. Try to avoid those sugary soft drinks that contain caffeine.

Two, if you perspire a lot, add a little sodium to your meals before your class.

Third, after peeling off your dance clothes... take a cold shower after your class.

Make sure you watch out for these signs:
•   Headache
•   Weakness
•   Light-Headedness
•   Irratibility
•   Thirst
•   Muscle cramps
•   Nausea or vomiting
•   Loss of mental sharpness

•   A sharp decrease in your dancing

If you see any of these signs, head home!
